Overview
The University was constructed in the 1960’s when little consideration was given to ventilation. Many of the classrooms and lecture halls are embedded within the old building structure with no means of achieving any forms of air movement, creating excessive unacceptable temperature and dangerous CO2 levels.
The Brief
The onset of COVID with social distancing and adequate ventilation became a major concern for the University and the students. The health of the occupants became the main priority and the University decided to cease all teaching activities until a suitable solution could be found.
Our Solution
Vision were employed to design a series of mechanical ventilation systems to penetrate into the sealed classrooms to provide clean fresh air from outside whilst extracting the warm contaminated air to provide s constant air change rate ensuring CO2 levels under full capacity were well within legal acceptable levels.
