Overview
Stoneleigh Road is a three-storey, 6,500sq m workplace in north London built on the site of a former council depot in troubled Tottenham Hale, was a little different: not just the building – with its facade of translucent polycarbonate allowing the light to enter and big, pink, natural ventilation chimneys.
The Brief
The client required a natural ventilation system that would deal with high heat loaded in the various office areas within the building. Part of the brief was to make the systema vibrant as possible, so bright pink was the obvious choice?
Our Solution
Due to the layout of the building, we designed a system that would sit above three central cores in the centre of the building. Each of the façade windows has an integrated external louvre fitted with an insulated internal panel set into the glazing frame. The panels are hinged so can be manually opened to allow fresh air to enter the rooms. Air is drawn across the room drawn by the roof mounted ventilators collecting warm air that rises to ceiling level entering one of the three central riser cores via high level grilles. The warm air rises up the shaft into the distinctive pink roof mounted turrets where it is exhausted to atmosphere.
