The Brief
The design brief was to naturally ventilate the sports hall and in the open corridors between the classrooms provide maximum natural ventilation in addition to providing natural daylight to the areas below.
Our Solution
For the sports hall we decided to install a series of large windcatchers to provide intake and extract air through the same roof terminals to provide a constant air change rate that automatically adjusts to changes in occupancy to provide a constant temperature and agreeable CO2 levels. The base of the turrets is fitted with UPVC volume control dampers to regulate the air flow in and out of the hall. For the corridors we designed bespoke motorised glazed roof light to maximise daylight into the building with maximum natural ventilation.
